His Majesty King Hamad has described the Bahrain Chamber as an active and essential partner in the kingdom’s prosperity and development.
He also commended its role in advancing the commercial and industrial sectors when he met chamber chairman Sameer Nass, along with several board members at Safriya Palace yesterday.
The meeting was attended by the King’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, his representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The King congratulated Mr Nass and board members on the chamber’s founding anniversary as the first chamber of commerce in the Gulf, dating back to 1910 during the reign of HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa.
His Majesty commended the contributions of current and past chairmen and board members, wishing them further success in serving the commercial sector and enhancing the chamber’s role and partnership in development and progress.
He praised Bahraini traders and businessmen for their role in driving economic progress and launching projects that have contributed to the kingdom’s development.
The King noted the chamber’s efforts in enhancing its position as an institution representing the private sector and emphasised support for its long-standing history.
Mr Nass expressed gratitude to the King for his directives, ongoing support and encouragement for the private sector to fulfil its role in driving economic growth.
He also said he had the honour of briefing His Majesty on the chamber’s key programmes and commercial and economic activities locally and internationally.
