BASKETBALL – Sweden breathed new life into their Fiba EuroBasket 2025 campaign by beating Britain 78-59 to secure a first win in this competition.
The victory is also Sweden’s first at EuroBasket in 12 years, with their last taste of success coming in 2013.
They improve to 1-2 in Group B, while Britain fall to 0-3.
It only took Sweden five seconds to get their first field goal, as Ludvig Hakanson sprinted in for the uncontested lay-up.
Pelle Larsson kept the scoreboard ticking over to keep Britain at bay, despite positive spells from Britain, who did produce some highlights.
When it was all said and done, Sweden was well-drilled, executed their offenses, and in the final minute of the third quarter, put the game beyond Britain’s reach.
Meanwhile, Türkiye advanced to the round of 16 after a 95-54 win over Portugal.
