MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport received high praise for delivering “the perfect result” in fourth and penultimate round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup over the weekend, held at the Nürburgring in Germany.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, claimed victory in the Bronze Cup with drivers Charles Dawson, Tom Lebbon, and Ben Barnicoat in the team’s #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
2 Seas also supported the Verstappen.com Racing #33 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, driven by Harry King, Chris Lulham, and Thierry Vermeulen. They took the Gold Cup win on the road before a post-race time penalty relegated them to third in class and 17th overall.
Shaikh Isa commented: “An exceptional weekend for the team, and we couldn’t have asked for better results overall on track. It has been a huge effort by both sides of the garage, running the perfect strategies across both cars and delivering strong pace.
“A big congratulations to Charles, Tom and Ben for their win in the Bronze Cup, as well. A first weekend for them campaigning together as a trio, and they just didn’t give up. Charles has shown his mettle in British GT with us this year, but his stint set the tone for an impressive effort by the whole crew. Tom also delivered an amazing drive, especially considering he was making his debut In the championship, and his lack of experience in both the car and of the track! Ben then did what Ben has done time and again with us. “This, combining with a great strategy, delivered the perfect result.”
The race unfolded with high intensity from the start. Dawson gained 11 positions in the opening laps, placing the team in a strong competitive position, while Lebbon delivered an impressive debut performance at the Nürburgring and in the series, rising to the class lead during his stint before handing over to Barnicoat, who secured the victory to the chequered flag.
The 2025 calendar of GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup features five rounds across Europe. The series now heads for its championship finale in Barcelona, Spain, scheduled for October 10 to 12.2 Seas are also racing in the 2025 British GT Championship, which is headed for its ninth and concluding meeting on October 4 and 5 at Donington Park in the UK. 2 Seas head into the event as leaders in the GT3 Teams’ Championship standings, while drivers Dawson and Kiern Jewiss in their #42 Mercedes-AMG are in first place in the GT3 Drivers’ Championship.
