ASIAN YOUTH GAMES – ROYAL Medical Services (RMS) has announced its full readiness to provide comprehensive medical coverage
for the upcoming third Asian Youth Games.
This comes in line with the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also the Games’ supreme organising committee chairman.
The mega multi-sport event is set to be hosted by the kingdom from October 22 to 31 under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad.
The RMS support will be carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Governmental Hospitals, health centres, and the National Ambulance Centre.
On this occasion, RMS commander Brigadier General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa stated: “The declaration of the Royal Medical Services’ readiness reflects our firm commitment to supporting national efforts to ensure the success of this major continental sporting event. We are dedicated to delivering advanced healthcare services that safeguard the well-being of athletes, delegations, and spectators.
“We have worked diligently to establish an integrated emergency response system and to provide medical care in line with the highest international standards, befitting Bahrain’s distinguished status as a host of major events.”
RMS confirmed that it has developed a comprehensive medical plan to ensure a rapid response to any emergencies, whether at the sports venues or at the accommodations of participating delegations. Specialised medical teams, equipped with the latest resources, will be deployed, along with modern ambulances staffed by qualified professionals from both RMS and the National
Ambulance Centre.
RMS will oversee full medical coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as all competitions, supported by the necessary medical equipment and supplies.
Dedicated medical protocols for the Games have been established, in addition to distributing awareness brochures and guides for participants and the public.
Brig Gen Dr Shaikh Fahad further emphasised: “We believe that ensuring world-class medical coverage during such continental and international events reinforces Bahrain’s reputation as a capable host of major sporting occasions.
“We will continue to work hand in hand with all partners to deliver the best possible healthcare services, reflecting the progress of our national healthcare system under the leadership and vision of His Majesty King Hamad.”
RMS emergency medicine consultant and emergency departments head Colonel Dr Salah Al Ghanem explained that the medical plan includes specialised response teams, field operation rooms, fixed medical points within competition venues, and mobile ambulance units for immediate intervention in emergencies. He stressed that ongoing coordination with all health authorities ensures the highest levels of preparedness and enhances both the speed and quality of medical response for participants and spectators alike.
These efforts are a direct reflection of the directives of Shaikh Khalid to highlight the kingdom’s bright image in organising and hosting major continental and international sporting events
