MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-BRITISH GT team 2 Seas Motorsport were last night crowned double champions of the 2025 British GT Championship.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, secured the series’ GT3 Teams’ title while their #42 crew of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss captured the GT3 Drivers’ crown.
2 Seas did enough in yesterday’s ninth and final round of the season, held at Donington Park in the UK, to secure the two champions’ trophies.
2 Seas claimed the GT3 Teams’ title for the second time in British GT history, adding to their maiden triumph from the 2023 season, while Dawson and Jewiss captured the GT3 Drivers’ title in their first season competing together.
Dawson and Jewiss finished the two-hour, rain-hit race in fourth place overall, sharing the duties in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, to earn the points that secured 2 Seas their historic double. Their teammates Kevin Tse and Maximillian Goetz, behind the wheel of 2 Seas’ #18 Mercedes-AMG, climbed the podium after taking third on the final classification.
2 Seas thus wrapped up this campaign with five race wins, including three for Dawson and Jewiss and another two for Tse and Goetz.
“It all started here,” said an overwhelmed Dawson after yesterday’s race, recalling their triumph from last April’s season-opener, which also came at Donington Park. “We’ve proven to everyone that we can do it.
“I’m so happy for Kiern – he is a superstar and he’s done an amazing job.
“2 Seas…my mind has gone blank…just super happy and thankful for everyone. I’m very privileged to be able to do this.”
The 2 Seas tandems started yesterday’s race in strong positions on the grid, with Dawson and Jewiss in fourth and Tse and Goetz in seventh.
Dawson was in the car at the hour mark when he was challenging for the podium in fourth, while Tse was further behind in ninth. Leading at that point were Barwell Motorsport’s tandem of Rob Collard and Hugo Cook, while their teammates Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell were not far behind in second – both competing in Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2s.
With just half-an-hour to go and the conditions getting more challenging with rain, Jewiss was sixth and Goetz right behind in seventh, but Goetz powered four positions ahead to climb to third with 10 minutes remaining. He maintained his position all the way to the chequered flag, while Jewiss was able to overtake Marcus Clutton in Orange Racing by JMH’s #67 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
Mithcell and Cook brought their cars home for a Barwell one-two, while Goetz finished one minute and 13.007 seconds behind the winners for the last overall podium place. Jewiss was right behind, taking fourth 1:13.884 back.
