MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-BRITISH GT team 2 Seas Motorsport – fresh from capturing an unprecedented title double last weekend in the 2025 British GT Championship – are back in action on track over the next few days for the final round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
The meeting is taking place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain from today to Sunday, with 2 Seas competing with a pair of contenders.
2 Seas’ #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo will be driven over the weekend by their trio of Charles Dawson, Ben Barnicoat, and Thomas Lebbon in the series’ Bronze class; while 2 Seas will be operating the #33 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo of Verstappen.com Racing, who are aiming to secure the series’ Gold Cup title. They will be hitting the track with their driver combination of Harry King, Chris Lulham, and Thierry Vermeulen.
The two crews are part of a massive 60-car grid. There are 16 cars competing in the Bronze Cup, eight in Gold, 17 in the Pro Cup, and 19 in the Silver Cup.
An hour-long Bronze test is scheduled to be held today from 5pm, after which free practice will take place over two hours tomorrow starting at 10am, to be followed by pre-qualifying at 3.35pm. Qualifying will then be held on Sunday morning at 11.25am, setting the grid for the three-hour race later that afternoon, which is scheduled to flag off at 4pm. All times are Bahrain.
2 Seas’ #222 trio will be looking to continue their impressive form in the championship, having won the previous round last August at the Nürburgring in Germany – their debut run in the championship this campaign.
Verstappen.com Racing, on the other hand, looked to have sealed the Gold Cup title with victory at the Nürburgring, but a post-race penalty dropped them to third on the race classification and kept the fight alive. They still lead the way in the standings ahead of the finale, though their advantage has been trimmed to 16 points from their closest challengers, the #777 Al Manar Racing by WRT BMW line-up of Al Faisal Al Zubair, Jens Klingmann, and Ben Tuck, who were elevated to the top step of the podium at the Nürburgring.
CSA Racing also have a shot at the Gold Cup crown with their #111 McLaren crew of Simon Gachet, Arthur Rougier, and James Kell. They are 22 points off the lead and will need to score a first victory since the opener to have a chance of the title.
