ASIAN YOUTH GAMES – SUPREME Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa paid an inspection visit yesterday to Isa Sports City in Riffa to review the latest preparations and readiness of the facilities for the third Asian Youth Games, which will be hosted by the kingdom from Wednesday next week, under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad.
Shaikh Khalid, who is also the Games’ supreme organising committee chairman, was accompanied by GSA deputy chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, BOC vice-president and supreme organising committee vice-chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar, BOC secretary general Faris Al Kooheji, the Games’ executive committee chairman Yusuf Duaij Muhoorfi, and other officials.
Shaikh Khalid toured the main operations centre and the sports halls, and was given a detailed explanation about the progress of preparing these facilities according to the highest standards approved by the Olympic Council of Asia.
Shaikh Khalid affirmed that Bahrain is making great strides towards successfully hosting this major continental event, praising the efforts of the teams working in the various committees and emphasising the importance of continuing to work at a high pace to ensure full readiness before the start of the competition.
