The Arab Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction, at its seventh meeting hosted by Bahrain, adopted four key recommendations submitted by Palestine. These included a call to provide urgent support for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in line with the identified needs across various sectors, to reduce disaster risks.
The recommendations also urged the implementation of a comprehensive emergency response plan – both financially and technically – within the framework of the Arab system for disaster risk reduction. They emphasised the need to strengthen regional and international efforts to establish a permanent mechanism capable of ensuring rapid and unhindered delivery of aid to Palestine, free from political constraints or delays. The plan further calls for building Palestinian capacities to manage crises and disasters, and for enhancing reconstruction and development efforts.
The Palestinian delegation said the move reflects Arab solidarity and collective action to help the Palestinian people face the severe humanitarian conditions resulting from the ongoing aggression and blockade.
