Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday took part in the Sixth International Security Alliance Ministerial Meeting, held in the UAE.
Gen Shaikh Rashid delivered a speech in which he expressed appreciation to UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his personal attendance at the first field exercise of the International Security Alliance, held in Bahrain.
He said the exercise was realistic in preparation, planning, and execution, successfully achieving its objectives in addressing security challenges with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness.
The minister also highlighted that recent successes, particularly the interception of attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics, result from strong co-ordination and effective integration among participating security agencies.
Gen Shaikh Rashid emphasised Bahrain’s position in supporting efforts that promote security and stability and strengthen principles of co-operation and integration among countries, contributing to regional security and international peace.
The minister expressed appreciation for the role of the UAE in leading the International Security Alliance and commended the UAE’s distinguished initiatives to consolidate joint security efforts and enhance their effectiveness.
The participants underscored their commitment to strengthening and developing the joint operational framework as a comprehensive model for strategic, technical, and field-level police co-operation under a unified umbrella, aimed at achieving international security and stability.
The ministers, in a joint statement, welcomed the accession of Brazil to the alliance, reflecting the strategic openness of the alliance and its responsiveness to geopolitical developments and emerging challenges that affect the security of societies and changes in crime patterns.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Gen Shaikh Rashid met Lt Gen Shaikh Saif, commending the strong historical ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to advancing security co-operation across multiple sectors.
The two sides addressed security matters and explored ways to enhance the exchange of expertise and information within the framework of the International Security Alliance, supporting regional security and stability.
Gen Shaikh Rashid also met Singapore Co-ordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam.
The two sides discussed developing security co-operation between the two countries.
The minister separately met Senegal Minister of Interior and Public Security Mouhamadou Bamba Cissé to discuss relations, particularly in the security field, as well as various topics contributing to the development of joint work.
Gen Shaikh Rashid also met Spanish Minister of Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez.
The minister commended the bilateral relations between the two countries and their mutual interest in further developing them.
