A new logistics plan has been introduced for this year’s Muharraq Nights Festival to ensure visitors enjoy smooth, easy access to the event.
Shuttle buses, expanded parking spaces and water transport services have all been added to provide festival-goers with a hoped for ‘seamless experience’.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities cultural properties and projects director Mustafa Al Sulaiman is encouraging visitors to take advantage of the upgraded transportation network, describing it as the ‘most convenient way to reach the festival’.
“They will depart from two main locations to serve the largest number of visitors,” Mr Al Sulaiman told the GDN.
“The first location is the Muharraq Nights Car Park, situated between Shaikh Hamad Bridge and Shaikh Isa Salman Bridge opposite Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel Residence and Spa in Manama. This is the main and largest line, serving visitors from all governorates due to its strategic location and substantial capacity.”
A bus equipped with equipment to transport people with disabilities will also be available.
“The second pick-up point is Marassi Galleria Station (Gate 2), serving visitors from the surrounding neighbourhoods and nearby areas,” Mr Al Sulamain said, adding that all that visitors needed to do was park their vehicles at either location and take the shuttle to the festival.
“We have allocated 30 buses ensuring transportation from one of the two car parks are always available,” he said.
“After testing the plan, we estimate travel times of 16 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. The more people who use the shuttles, the less traffic we will see on the roads.”
He stressed that the plan was designed to significantly reduce congestion in Muharraq and on the main roads leading to the event.
Shuttles from both locations will operate from 4pm to 10pm on weekdays and 4pm to midnight on weekends.
Additional transport options include boat trips from four points: the Bahrain National Museum, The Avenues, Sa’ada, and the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay (via The Avenues).
Tickets can be purchased through the Massar app or at the museum for trips departing from there.
Water routes run from 4.30pm to 10.30pm on weekdays and 4.30pm to 12.30am on weekends.
Visitors arriving by car will find a range of options, including free and paid parking, as well as valet services.
Golf buggies will operate within festival grounds for a small fee too.
Parking options have been allocated in Bu Mahir, Al Hala Sports Club, near Turabi House, Halat Bu Maher Health Centre, Abdulrahman Al Nasser Primary and Intermediate Boys School, Al Isteqlal Secondary Girls School, and Abu Obaida bin Al Jarrah Primary Boys School.
