GOLF – Benedikt Schwerm edged out Raghav Talwar on countback to win the Airmech Stableford competition at Awali Golf Club (AGC).
Saleh Ali Ghadeer also had reason to celebrate in the event, firing in a sensational hole-in-one on hole four while also placing amongst the overall prize winners.
Schwerm secured first place with 37 points. His round included a great string of five pars in a row.
Schwerm thus triumphed on countback after Talwar also finished with 37 points, but had to settle for the runner-up spot.
Adel Ali Al Fayyadh claimed third place with the best 36 points, which was also scored by the fourth through sixth placers, respectively.
They were Rashed Yaqoob Saleh, Ghadeer, and Ateeq Mujali. Gerard van Gerwen finished seventh overall with 35 points.
Following the event, the winners were presented their respective prizes by AGC captain Steve Newall.
