BASKETBALL – Bahrain champions Muharraq resume their campaign in the 2025-26 Fiba West Asia Super League (WASL) tomorrow when they host Kuwaiti outfit Kazma SC.
The game will be the fourth for the Bahrainis in Group A of the Gulf sub-zone in this season’s Fiba WASL.
It will be played at the Bahrain Basketball Association Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex and it is scheduled for a 7.30pm tip-off.
Muharraq will be going all out for victory having taken only one of their three fixtures to date.
Kazma have a similar record, but are above Muharraq on their division’s table with a superior points difference.
Ittihad Club from Saudi Arabia are currently atop Group A with a 3-1 win-loss record, followed by Shabab Al Ahli from the UAE with a 2-2 mark.
Muharraq’s game tomorrow will be their last in the Fiba WASL this calendar year.
They only get back onto the hardwood in the tournament on January 12 when they play at home against Shabab Al Ahli, and then complete their schedule against Ittihad in Saudi on January 19.
Muharraq need to finish in the top three of their pool in order to stay in contention for the title.
The top-ranked side at the end of this stage advances directly to the Gulf semi-finals, while the second and third-ranked teams clash in a play-off round.
The top three teams in the Gulf sub-zone will earn direct berths in this year’s Fiba WASL Final Eight to determine the overall champions.
