All-time great American band Metallica proved they could still rock it with a scintillating session of heavy metal much to the delight of live music lovers last night.
If you are not even a fan of the genre, the show guaranteed that you wouldn't be leaving unless you were nodding your head to their classics.
The venue was mostly dominated by fans wearing symbolic black T-shirts and they soaked up the atmosphere.
The evening started with a performance by Bahraini band Bloodshel, which warmed up the fans before the big blast.
Seeing Metallica masters James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich made many fans' dreams come true, as this was a rare moment of watching your favourite performers live on stage in Bahrain.
For the uninitiated, Metallica were formed in Los Angeles in 1981 and are considered Thrash Metal's Founding Fathers.
Chart classics For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fuel and Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman live long in the memory.
They played all their classic hits, the ‘one’ that shaped the entirety of the genre and inspired and influenced every music band and guitarist in the categories of heavy, thrash and speed metal.
Hetfield's energetic performance captivated the fans especially when he poignantly knelt on the ground with his guitar as he delivered one hit after the other.
The solo stints by Hammett and Trujillo proved exceptional too. And we must not forget how impressive Ulrich was on the drums.
The show attracted fans from many generations and nationalities, some Bahrain-based, others traveling from all around the globe.
Between the songs, band members spoke about how happy and excited they were to be in Bahrain.
Trujillo mentioned how the people of Bahrain, the food, and the venue had touched their hearts.
Metallica no doubt would welcome a return date and we’d love to have them back.
One of the biggest hits was Master of Puppets and this band are the puppet masters. Nothing else matters!
