A Tennessee woman experienced an unexpected twist after visiting the hospital for severe stomach pain - she discovered she was pregnant and already in labour!
Keionna Dickerson, 31, a mother of three, walked in thinking she had a bad stomach ache. Instead, doctors informed her she was about to welcome her fourth child.
She was rushed into an emergency C-section after monitoring revealed the baby’s heart rate was dropping.
Dickerson was left so dazed after the delivery that she let her sister and cousin choose the baby’s name: Champion.
Doctors explained that Dickerson had a cryptic pregnancy, a rare condition where a person is unaware of being pregnant until late in gestation. Only about one in 2,500 cases is undiscovered until delivery.
