CRICKET – In an electrifying final of the Khalid Bin Hamad Cricket League Division C T20 Series 2, Awan CC emerged victorious by chasing down a challenging target with seven wickets and 12 balls to spare, lifting the trophy in style at the Busaiteen Ground.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Ghani Cricket Club posted a competitive total of 173/6, thanks to a strong opening partnership between Syed Tajammall Izhar (56 off 34 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes) and skipper Adnan Rasool (49 off 40 balls).
The duo laid a solid foundation with an 91-run opening stand. Contributions from Haider Ali (17) and Shazad Riaz (14*) helped Ghani cross the 170-run mark.
For Awan CC, Ifham Azam (2/31) and M Mudassar Ijaz (2/41) were the pick of the bowlers, while Adnan Ghous (1/23) and Mehar Tayyab Mahmood (1/39) also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
Awan CC started the chase confidently, with Hamza Riaz Mohammad (60 off 46 balls, 8 fours) anchoring the innings and earning the Player of the Match award.
He was well-supported by Muhammad Shahbaz Khan (42 off 34 balls, three fours, two sixes).
After Hamza’s dismissal, Waqas Amjad (41* off 17 balls, three fours, three sixes) played a blistering knock, ably assisted by Adnan Ghous(19* off eight balls, two sixes) to finish the match in emphatic fashion.
Ghani Cricket Club’s Syed Tajammall Izhar shone with both bat and ball, picking up 2/18 in his two overs, but his efforts were not enough to halt Awan CC’s charge.
The 113-run opening partnership between Hamza Riaz and Muhammad Shahbaz set the stage for the chase.
Waqas Amjad’s explosive finish in the final overs sealed the game for Awan CC.
The Khalid Bin Hamad Cricket League 2025 Division C finale will be remembered as a high-scoring, entertaining contest that showcased the talent and passion of club cricket in the region.
Today the Division B finale between Gaz CC and Ustad Cricket Club will be held at Ground 5.
