The death toll from Sunday’s horrific car accident in Abu Dhabi has risen to five, following the death of a seven-year-old boy on Monday evening.
Azzam (7), who had been in critical condition at Shaikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), succumbed to his injuries despite intensive medical efforts. He was the fourth sibling to perish in the crash, which also claimed the lives of his brothers—Ashaz (14), Ammar (12), and Ayyash (5)—and the family’s domestic worker, 49-year-old Bushra Fayaz Yahu.
The children are the sons of Indian expatriates Abdul Lateef and Ruksana, from Kerala. The couple and their surviving daughter, Ezza (10), remain under medical care at SSMC. According to a welfare group assisting the family, they are being closely monitored.
The accident occurred on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai motorway on Sunday morning as the family of seven and their helper were returning from the Liwa Date Festival.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Bushra Fayaz Yahu were repatriated to her hometown in Kerala on Tuesday morning for her final rites.
