BAHRAIN continues to develop policies that foster entrepreneurship, promote innovation and encourage digital transformation, including artificial intelligence technologies, in a manner that contributes to inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
This was the message conveyed to the world by Bahrain’s high-level delegation at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa led the delegation, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad, to the high-profile annual meetings in the Swiss Alpine resort.
The delegation took part in bilateral meetings, round-table discussions and high-level strategy sessions, and highlighted Bahrain’s progress across economic diversification, sustainability and innovation.
The five-day forum, which ended yesterday, was held under the theme, ‘A Spirit of Dialogue’.
During the visit, and on behalf of His Majesty, Shaikh Isa participated in the signing ceremony of the Board of Peace Charter.
The Charter was also signed by US President Donald Trump and Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Co-operation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita, formally ratifying the board as an international organisation.
In addition to engaging with partners around the world on a range of key issues including strengthening relationships, the delegation also participated in key sessions exploring themes driving the global agenda.
As part of the forum’s activities, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa highlighted the kingdom’s experience in investing in human capital.
He was taking part in a discussion on ‘A New Dawn for Entrepreneurship?’, alongside a select group of global leaders and decision-makers from government, finance and technology sectors, in the presence of Shaikh Isa.
He pointed out that GCC countries possess advanced digital infrastructure and diverse policy frameworks, enabling them to adopt technological programmes and initiatives that support economic diversification and strengthen their position on the global economic map.
He highlighted the role of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) in supporting the Bahraini workforce through reskilling programmes and digital skills development and training initiatives, reflecting the efficiency and creativity of Bahraini talent across various fields of business.
Sustainable Development Minister and Bahrain Economic Development Board chief executive officer Noor Al Khulaif participated in the session, ‘A Prosperity Agenda for the Middle East’, which focused on how renewed growth, alongside an increased investment in frontier technologies, infrastructure and new industries could reshape the economic landscape of the Middle East and North Africa.
