SUPREME Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sport Authority (GSA) chairman and the Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa has praised the Al Fursan Sports Tournament, describing the organisation of its second edition during the holy month of Ramadan as a significant step in strengthening community-based sporting events in the kingdom.
Shaikh Khalid noted that the tournament is being held in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and reflects the sustained support and attention given to the sports sector in Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalid added that the upcoming edition will feature competitions across 13 sports, including four disciplines making their debut in the tournament: swimming, cricket, golf, and cowboy sports. He said that this expansion underscores the tournament’s steady growth and the organisers’ commitment to broadening participation and appealing to a wide spectrum of athletes.
Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the Al Fursan Sports Tournament aligns with the vision of Shaikh Nasser to promote meaningful sports initiatives and stimulate sporting activity during Ramadan, expressing his pride in staging the tournament in co-operation with the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Shaikh Khalid also highlighted the tournament’s role in promoting fair competition and teamwork, as well as providing a unifying platform that brings together athletes from various disciplines. He emphasised that such events contribute to talent identification, enhanced physical preparedness, and the overall development of the sports landscape.
