PARA BADMINTON – Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) secretary general Ali Al Majed has confirmed the completion of all logistical and technical preparations for the kingdom’s hosting of an historic edition of the Bahrain BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026.
The tournament, organised by the BPC in co-operation with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation, will take place from February 8 to 14.
It is to be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
In a statement marking the occasion, Al Majed emphasised that the working groups, comprised of young Bahraini talents, have demonstrated exceptional efficiency in preparing for the event.
“We possess national energies capable of managing major sporting events according to the highest international standards, ensuring a championship that honours the reputation and standing of the kingdom.”
Al Majed explained that Bahrain hosting this global event – a first for the Middle East – serves as a ‘memorandum of trust’ from the international community in Bahrain’s advanced infrastructure and organisational capabilities.
This further strengthens the kingdom’s position as a leading destination for global sports.
The BPC secretary general noted that organising this championship aligns with the strategic plan of the BPC.
He praised the continuous follow-up and unlimited support from BPC president Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, asserting that this support is the primary driver for advancing sports for para athletes and helping Bahraini champions reach global podiums.
