A Syrian expatriate fell victim to a brazen robbery after being flagged down on a highway in Kuwait by a man posing as a police officer, who rifled through his car and made away with KD 340 (approximately BD 418).
According to reports, the 39-year-old victim was approached by a man claiming to be an officer who demanded identification. The impostor then conducted a vehicle inspection, alleging drug suspicions, before snatching the cash from the car and fleeing in a pick-up truck.
The victim was able to provide crucial details regarding the suspect and the getaway vehicle, which helped the police file a case for theft and impersonating an officer.
The case has been escalated to the Criminal Investigation Department, which is working with the General Directorate of Traffic to track the suspect.
