Three teenage sisters fell to their deaths in the Indian city of Ghaziabad, reportedly following a row with their parents over an addiction to an online game.
The sisters, aged 12, 14, and 16, became obsessed with a "Korean task-based game" after discovering it during the pandemic. The craze for the game began affecting their daily lives to such an extent that they started skipping school to play it.
The girls reportedly left a suicide note apologising to their parents. According to police, the exact motive for the tragedy is yet to be determined.
"We received information that three girls fell to their deaths from the ninth-floor balcony of their building. Police rushed to the scene and took the bodies into custody. The victims were taken to a hospital in Loni, where they were pronounced dead on arrival," Superintendent of Police (SP) Atul Kumar Singh said.
The victims’ father told news channel India Today TV: "I never knew it was a task-based game that tells you to die. I thought they were playing Ludo. Forensic experts told me that my daughters were involved in such a game. They used to play on a mobile phone, which was seized by the police.
