With Bristol City leading 3-1 in the 55th minute, the referee was forced to stop the game as the squirrel darted across the field. What followed was an eight‑minute interruption, during which stadium staff made several attempts to remove the furry intruder. The squirrel twice found its way back onto the pitch, much to the amusement of the crowd.
The incident exploded on social media with the clips of the squirrel's pitch invasion going viral.
