A special dinner to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the kingdom’s National Action Charter was hosted last night by ‘This Is Bahrain’.
The dinner took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel yesterday evening and commemorated the Charter, which has provided a framework for Bahrain’s advancement, driving sustained progress during the past 25 years and consolidating wide-ranging achievements.
Social Development Minister Osama Al Alawi said community societies over the past decades, especially under His Majesty King Hamad reforms following the National Action Charter in 2001, have progressed drastically through a bigger role and engagement.
“We are proud of what has been achieved and we are looking for more,” he said.
“The values of coexistence, tolerance and respect for religious and cultural diversity have been firmly established, and the kingdom has become a beacon for these values.
“The ministry draws inspiration from the principles of the National Action Charter in its work. It is keen to support civil society institutions, empower non-governmental organisations, and enhance their role as a fundamental partner in development, based on the belief that voluntary and community work is a key pillar in strengthening social cohesion and spreading a culture of giving, volunteerism, and social responsibility,” he said.
“The government continues to support community societies to further develop and grow.
“We are very pleased with efforts by the This Is Bahrain Society led by its chairwoman Betsy Mathieson to bring diverse segments of the community together in celebration of humanity and co-existence.”
Top Bahraini star Ahmed Al Jumairi also released a patriotic song performed alongside top singers Hind, Hanan and Mohammed Al Tamimi, under the guidance of Sameer Al Baharna.
