PARA BADMINTON – BADMINTON World Federation (BWF) president Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul stated that hosting the Bahrain BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026 in the kingdom represents a historic and pivotal milestone in the journey of the sport.
This marks the first time a BWF world championships of any kind has been held in the Middle East, confirming the international community’s immense confidence in Bahrain’s organisational capabilities and its prominent position on the worldwide sporting stage.
She added that the championships serve as a culmination of the rapid growth of Para badminton globally. She noted the significant increase in the number of internationally ranked Para athletes across various regions, which underscores the success of development programmes and a shared commitment to making the sport inclusive and accessible to everyone.
