HOCKEY – MALIK Hockey Club emerged as champions of the Bahrain Hockey League following a dominant campaign in the 2026 season.
Nine competitive matchdays showcased intensity, discipline, and the continued rise of the sport in the kingdom, with Malik securing the title after finishing unbeaten with seven wins and one draw from their eight matches, closing the season on 22 points. Hungry Hamours secured the runner-up spot with 10 points, showing resilience throughout the campaign with key performances that kept the title race competitive.
Galali Hockey Club finished third with nine points, while Youngstars and Bahrain Hockey Club completed the standings with fourth and fifth, respectively, after a hard-fought season.
The league once again highlighted the steady growth of competitive hockey under the leadership of the Bahrain Hockey Association (BHA). The standard of play, improved organisation, and strong club participation reflect the BHA’s ongoing commitment to developing the sport at both senior and grassroots levels.
BHA president Sami Ali said: “This season has been a clear step forward for hockey in Bahrain. The level of competition, discipline, and commitment shown by all clubs has been outstanding.
“I congratulate Malik Hockey Club on a well-deserved championship and thank every team for contributing to a competitive and respectful league.
“Our focus remains on strengthening the structure of the sport and creating more opportunities for players to grow. What we’ve seen this season gives us real confidence in the future of hockey in the kingdom.”
Bahrain Hockey League director Rubert Castellino added: “I’m proud of how smoothly the competition was conducted and grateful to the clubs, umpires, and volunteers who worked behind the scenes. We’ve raised the standard this year, and the foundation is now stronger for the seasons ahead.”
