BASKETBALL – AL Najma outclassed Al Hala 107-94 last night as gameweek 14 tipped off in the 2025-26 Zain Bahrain Basketball League, currently being played at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.
Najma used a scintillating third-quarter performance where they outscored their rivals by 18, 41-23, to turn a slim 45-40 advantage at the half to a commanding 86-63 cushion heading into the final frame.
There, they posted their biggest lead of the night of 25 following a Cleanthony Early lay-up before taking their foot off the gas in the game’s closing minutes.
Early finished as Najma’s leading scorer with 21 points coming off the bench, including three three-pointers.
Mohammed Kowayed nearly had a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, while Donovan Smith chipped in with 16 points and 13 boards.
Veteran court general Mohammed Hussain also played a key role with nine points and eight assists.
Shaheed Davis was the top performer for Hala with 21 points while Ahmed Bindayneh added 18 and Abdulqader Thani and Ali Baqer contributed 16 in the loss.
With the result, Najma claimed their eighth win to go with six losses while handing Hala their 11th defeat in 14 outings.
Najma matched Manama on victories in the standings of the league’s top-tier premier division, which is still led by defending champions Muharraq who boast a 12-1 win-loss record.
Muharraq are in action tomorrow when they face off with Al Ahli at the same venue.
The game is scheduled for a 10.30pm start.
