FOOTBALL – MUHARRAQ were firing on all cylinders last night as they routed relegation-threatened Bahrain Club 7-0 in their matchweek 15 clash of the 2025-26 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.
Six different players were on target for the defending champions, who netted five of their goals in the opening half. Portuguese professional Elliot Jorge Simoes Inacio spearheaded the victors with a brace, while also on target were Samy Frioui, Edimar Ribeiro da Costa Junior, Soufiane Saeed Mahrouk, Abdulkarim Oumar Diarra, and Facundo Agustin Tobares.
Muharraq had a dream start to the contest with Frioui opening their account from the inside edge of the box in the sixth minute. Da Costa Junior then scored from point-blank range just four minutes later before Inacio tapped in his first three minutes on.
Inacio was on target again with a free-kick from distance in the 38th minute, and then Mahrouk scored from inside the area in first-half stoppage time to send his team into the interval with the five-goal cushion.
Diarra later added Muharraq’s sixth three minutes past the hour-mark, finding the net from close range. Tobares then drove in his goal from just outside the box in the 82nd minute to peg the final score and seal Muharraq’s big win.
Muharraq claimed their 11th triumph as they regained solo first place on the table with 36 points. They dealt Bahrain Club their league-worst 12th defeat as they stayed at the bottom of the standings with just seven points.
In last night’s other match, Cameroonian Fabrice Badouidana Onana scored with a stunning curling strike from an acute angle to help lift Al Ahli to a 1-0 win over Al Najma.
Operating on the right wing, Onana masterfully floated the ball over Najma custodian Ammar Mohammed and into the top left corner of the net.
His effort was enough to separate the two sides and give Ahli their fifth win to improve to 18 points. Najma suffered their eighth loss and remained on 15.
League action continues tonight with Malkiya battling Al Khaldiya in the lone fixture. Then, on Monday, Sitra take on Hidd to wrap up matchweek 15. Both games are scheduled to kick off at 9pm.
