The UAE’s Education Ministry has approved a list of AI platforms for school use, allowing students across the country to utilise generative AI for assignments and homework.
Four leading generative AI platforms, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and Claude, have been approved for student use, provided they verify and cite the information, according to Al Emarat Al Youm.
The AI tools are banned for students below Grade 7 and are strictly prohibited during assessments and official examinations. However, students are permitted to submit "approved" AI-generated text as part of their coursework, provided they can demonstrate a thorough understanding of the material.
The ministry emphasised that the decision aims to prepare students for a digital future and ensure they keep pace with rapid advancements in global technology.
