A shocking incident has rocked the Indian city of Lucknow, where a 19-year-old, Akshat Pratap Singh, fatally shot his 49-year-old father in front of his sister at their residence.
On 20 February, Akshat and his father, Manvendra Singh, reportedly got into a heated argument over the teenager's preparations for the upcoming National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The dispute allegedly triggered the teen into a fit of rage.
According to police reports, Akshat used a licensed rifle to shoot his father before threatening his sister to remain silent about the crime. He then reportedly dismembered the body and hid some of the remains inside a blue drum within the family home.
Police stated that on 23 February, Akshat lodged a missing person's report for his father at a local police station. However, during questioning, his statements appeared suspicious.
"On interrogation, Akshat broke down and confessed to having shot his father dead with his licensed rifle following a dispute over the NEET competitive examination," police said in an official statement.
