People across the island have come together to support those affected by the hostile Iranian attacks on the kingdom, demonstrating remarkable generosity and community spirit during this challenging period.
An expatriate couple, who did not want to be identified, handed over several food packs and grocery items to members of the Cordillera Overseas Filipino Workers Solidarity Bahrain (COSB), offering much-needed relief to residents.
The donations were organised in collaboration with Pilgreg Allaga Baod, owner of Atarah’s Eatery in Gudaibiya.

Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the donors, saying the assistance provided both comfort and reassurance.
Josephine Salvador, 58, a cleaner working at a school, said she voluntarily stopped going to work out of fear.
“Thank you to everyone for their kind support,” she added, in a statement issued by the COSB yesterday. “The food pack is a big help and serves as much-needed support during this time.”
Despite the uncertainty brought about by the ongoing conflict in the region, 41‑year‑old Rhea Rost from Cebu, who has been working as a sales representative in Bahrain for the past three years, said the kindness shown by the people around her has helped her stay hopeful. “What’s happening is unexpected, but despite everything, there are still people who are willing to help,” she said.
She added that the support extended by members of the community has been a great source of strength and encouragement.

Meals packed for Filipinos in Bahrain
The initiative reflects the spirit of volunteerism and compassion among Filipinos abroad, proving that even in difficult situations, there are individuals willing to help those in need.
The COSB said that the expat couple ‘gave from the heart’ to support distressed OFWs and other nationals.
“They began distributing food packs at the shelter where evacuated expatriates were housed and have continued extending assistance to people of various nationalities,” the organisation added.
The COSB was established to unite overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) of Cordillera descent, while preserving their cultural heritage. The organisation also aims to promote volunteerism and provide support to members through welfare assistance, information sharing, and guidance for those facing challenges while living and working abroad.

Unregistered group Lights of Kindness also distributed iftar kits and dinner packets at a labour accommodation in Tubli.
“We received an increase in appeals for food from those who have been affected by the current regional situation,” the group’s founder Syed Haneef told the GDN. “It is our duty to share supplies, trying to provide a bit of relief to them,” he added.
