Supreme Council for Health (SCH) chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed visited the central warehouses of Shifa National Medical Supply.
The visit comes as part of efforts to further strengthen the medical supply system in Bahrain and ensure its efficiency and the sustainable availability of medicines and medical supplies, supporting the continued development of the health sector and the delivery of high quality healthcare services to citizens and residents.
Lt Gen Dr Shaikh Mohammed emphasised the importance of continuously monitoring the readiness of Bahrain’s medical supply system and enhancing its efficiency to support the uninterrupted provision of healthcare services.
He noted the ongoing development of storage and supply systems to improve the performance of the health sector and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in the provision of medicines and medical supplies.
Dr Al Sayyed said that strengthening the efficiency of the pharmaceutical supply system supports the continuity of healthcare services and enhances readiness across healthcare facilities.
She commended the efforts dedicated to managing and operating the central warehouses and the advanced systems applied to ensure safe storage and the quality of medical supplies.
The officials reviewed operations at the central storage and medical supply facilities, including the management of pharmaceutical inventories and medical supplies, as well as the logistics procedures for receiving, storing and distributing them to healthcare institutions.
They also reviewed the systems applied to ensure efficient supply and the sustainable availability of medicines and medical supplies in line with the highest approved standards in pharmaceutical storage and distribution, in addition to development plans aimed at further strengthening the national medical supply system.
