HANDBALL – Defending champions Al Najma maintained their pristine record in the 2025-26 Khalid Bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League with a resounding 36-27 victory over Al Ittifaq in their week 14 contest.
The game was played at the Bahrain Handball Federation Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex, and it was part of the latest round of games as action continued in the kingdom’s sports leagues following a days-long hiatus due to the unfortunate events that are taking place on the island.
Najma were in control from the very first throw and took a commanding 19-10 lead at the end of the first half.
They maintained their fine form over the remainder of the clash to come away with their 13th win in as many outings to rise to 39 points in first place.
Najma also handed Ittifaq their 10th defeat to go along with three triumphs as they went to 19 markers.
Meanwhile, in another game, Al Ettihad battled past Bahrain Club 37-31 last night at the same venue.
Ettihad led with a comfortable 20-12 cushion at the break and did enough the rest of the way to secure their win.
Ettihad won for the fifth time in 13 tries to improve to 23 points on the league standings, while Bahrain Club stayed in last place after suffering their league-worst 12th loss to go with one victory for 15 points.
Week 14 in the league continues tonight with Barbar taking on Al Shabab and Samaheej facing off with Al Tadhamun.
