Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa conducted field visits to a number of telecommunications companies in Bahrain to review the sector’s operational readiness and precautionary measures aimed at ensuring the continuity of vital services in light of regional developments.
He visited a branch of Batelco, a subsidiary of Beyon, at City Centre Bahrain, in the presence of Beyon chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and several members of the executive management.
He was briefed on the company’s network readiness and the procedures in place to ensure uninterrupted telecommunications services.
He also visited the branch of stc Bahrain at the same complex, where he was received by chief executive officer Khalid Al Osaimi.
The visit included a review of the technical and operational preparations adopted by the company to enhance network efficiency and maintain service continuity.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla also toured the headquarters of Zain Bahrain in Seef District, where he met with managing director Mohammed Zainalabedin.
Discussions focused on the company’s efforts to strengthen its network and develop its technical capabilities to ensure the reliability of telecommunications services.
The minister also visited BNET, where he met chief executive officer Ahmed Jaber Al Doseri, and was briefed on the company’s initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the kingdom’s digital infrastructure and its emergency response plans to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla emphasised the importance of maintaining a high level of readiness across the telecommunications sector, noting that it represents a key pillar of national security and digital infrastructure. He commended the efforts of telecommunications companies in strengthening their technical capabilities and enhancing rapid response mechanisms to address emergency situations.
Officials from the telecommunications companies expressed their appreciation to the minister for his visit and continued follow-up on the sector’s preparedness, affirming the readiness of telecommunications networks and digital infrastructure in the kingdom and their commitment to implementing operational and precautionary plans to ensure service continuity under all circumstances.
