The Inspection Department of the Industry and Commerce Ministry last night closed down a food retail business after it was found to have raised prices on several products without justification, disregarding the current exceptional circumstances, in violation of Consumer Protection Law.
The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
The business was also found to have violated the law by failing to display prices for every product.
The ministry emphasised that it will not tolerate any practices that harm consumers’ rights or disrupt market stability and will continue taking strict legal action against anyone found breaking the law.
