Bahraini women have become key partners in the kingdom’s development journey, thanks to strong royal support and sustained empowerment policies, Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh said yesterday.
His remarks came as he extended congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and president of the Supreme Council for Women, on International Women’s Day, marked worldwide yesterday.
Mr Al Saleh praised the achievements of Bahraini women and highlighted their growing role across political, economic and social sectors.
“Bahraini women have become an integral partner in the nation’s development and construction process,” he said.
“They have achieved pioneering accomplishments thanks to the royal vision and continuous support of His Majesty.”
He noted that Bahrain had witnessed steady progress in global indicators related to women’s empowerment and equal opportunities.
He also commended the government’s continued support for women’s empowerment under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
“The government continues to develop policies and launch initiatives aimed at achieving gender balance and supporting the contributions of Bahraini women in political, economic and social fields,” he added.
Mr Al Saleh highlighted the influential role played by HRH Princess Sabeeka through her leadership of the Supreme Council for Women.
“The remarkable gains achieved by Bahraini women are a direct result of the distinguished role played by HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa,” he said.
“Through her leadership of the Supreme Council for Women, she has supported policies and programmes that strengthen women’s advancement and reinforce their role as partners in decision-making.”
