Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the 295th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects.
The committee commended the address by His Majesty King Hamad for the last 10 days of Ramadan. It highlighted His Majesty’s emphasis on Bahrain’s steady approach of wisdom and moderation, and its balanced progress in meeting obligations to the Arab region and the international community.
The committee also noted the directives for constitutional institutions to protect national constants and enhance their role, while improving urban development and production. It emphasised the importance of leveraging all available resources to advance Bahrain’s reform process and preserve its renewed essence.
The committee also thanked His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his order to address the damage caused to citizens’ homes following the heinous and hostile Iranian attacks, and to provide the best medical services to the injured.
The committee reviewed the measures taken by the relevant authorities to inventory and assess the extent of the damage, in preparation for commencing implementation to ensure the stability that Bahraini families have always known in their homes.
They also commended the efforts of military, security, and civilian personnel for their professional handling of recent developments in light of the aggressive Iranian attacks. At the same time, it renewed its condemnation of the continued blatant assaults targeting civilian objects, residential neighbourhoods, vital economic, oil, and educational facilities, desalination plants, and infrastructure.
It stressed that these actions constitute a flagrant violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty and the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law, posing a direct threat to the lives of citizens and residents, and representing a dangerous escalation that destabilises regional and international security and stability.
The committee expressed its appreciation for the co-operation and integration shown by the Legislative Authority with the Executive Authority to support strategic development projects and grant them top priority, in light of the Shura Council’s approval of a draft law ratifying the Framework Agreement on contributing to the financing of the Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Highway Development Project (Phase II) between the Bahrain government and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
The committee also commended the efforts exerted by the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry, the Works Ministry and their field personnel in draining rainwater witnessed by the kingdom this week and dealing with accumulations in various locations.
The meeting reviewed the items on its agenda, including a study on means to enhance civil protection in homes, residential buildings, new and existing public buildings, and infrastructure facilities, as well as another study on thermal insulation requirements in buildings.
The committee reviewed the latest updates on legislation related to its work and specialisations included in the government’s legislative plan for the year 2026.
They also discussed a proposal to find a mechanism that balances commitment to building requirements and development needs by addressing unlicensed construction cases that are considered minor violations that do not affect structural safety, do not pose a danger to lives, and do not infringe upon public property.
The committee followed up on the latest developments of the comprehensive digital transformation plan for the services provided by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau.
