The government has launched a series of initiatives to support the training and employment of newly graduated Bahraini doctors, particularly in the private healthcare sector.
Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Minister Ghanim Al Buainain said the government had reviewed a proposal to have the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) provide training support for newly employed doctors in private hospitals, similar to the wage support system in government hospitals.
He said the Cabinet had already introduced several initiatives to develop national medical talent and help new graduates enter the labour market.
Among them is the Qualification Programme, a six-month advanced training certificate in general medicine allowing new doctors to work two days a week in government hospitals and three days in private institutions, giving them practical experience while improving their professional competence.
Tamkeen also subsidises salaries for newly graduated doctors working in private healthcare institutions, provided their pay is not less than BD800, while also funding salary increases for Bahraini doctors already working in the sector.
Additional initiatives also support postgraduate education, board certification and fellowships, alongside programmes that will train more than 700 Bahraini healthcare professionals, including those pursuing specialised nursing qualifications.
