Civil Defence teams rushed to the site of a fire that broke out in a multi‑storey residential building in Amwaj yesterday, managing to extinguish the flames and rescue affected residents.
Eight people were pulled out of the blaze and the National Ambulance transported one, a 15‑year‑old girl suffering from smoke inhalation, to the nearest hospital.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Firemen were able to bring the blaze under control efficiently, which prevented its spread and limited its impact.
Amwaj Islands Central Owners Association chairman Ahmed Al Salloom praised their swift response and efficiency, stressing that this effective co-ordination contributed to containing the incident without endangering public safety.
Mr Al Salloom added that the association is monitoring the situation in co-ordination with the relevant authorities to ensure preventive measures are taken.
The association also urged residents to follow safety guidelines and co-operate with the authorities in order to maintain the community’s security and safety.
