JUDO – Bahrain’s judo national team star Said Sadrudinov won a gold medal in the men’s under-100kg division of the Tashkent Grand Slam 2026, held in the Uzbekistan capital.
According to the Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC), Sadrudinov’s triumph earned Bahrain the kingdom’s first-ever gold at this level of an International Judo Federation competition.
Sadrudinov secured the title after defeating Uzbekistan’s Ernazar Sarsenbaev in the final.
Earlier in the last four, he beat Paris 2024 Olympics champion Zelym Kotsoiev of Azerbaijan.
Ahead of the semis, Sadrudinov emerged as winner of Pool B, where he claimed victories over Romanian Alexandru Sibisan and then against South Korea’s Juyeop Han.

Following the result, BCSC vice-chairman and Bahrain Judo Federation president Dr Faisal Kanoo said that the achievement reflects the sustained support for sport and the kingdom’s athletes by His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He also attributed the success to the backing of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the continued follow-up of GSA vice chairman and BCSC chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
