On April 18th, my car broke down on Shaikh Zayed Highway in front of Ramli Mall. Feeling very alone and helpless, I was truly grateful to receive the help from a total stranger.
Ahmed noticed my predicament and expertly manoeuvred his car close enough to attach the jump leads.
After the car had started, I said I would drive to the garage beside Wadi Al Sail, and Ahmed kindly offered to accompany me, which I appreciated as I was worried about stopping at traffic lights along the way.
Unfortunately, my car cut out again just as I turned into the garage. While that was less worrying, the mechanic informed me they did not have the correct battery in stock.
Again, Ahmed took charge and asked me to follow him further to Hamad Town.
Knowing my car could cut out again at any time, I anxiously followed Ahmed. At the second battery outlet, the staff quickly replaced the dud item. All the while, Ahmed stayed to check everything was okay and when I said I needed to go inside to pay, he told me there is no need.
I could hardly believe my ears. Not only had Ahmed kindly spent an hour getting me to safety, but he also generously paid for the battery. Words of gratitude were not enough!
Ahmed said he was happy to help because he is Bahraini and also in the police force.
I am just so thankful to live somewhere that has such amazing young citizens.
Bahrain is the best country in the world.
