THE Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) treated the kingdom’s senior men’s volleyball national team to a hero’s welcome yesterday upon their return from Doha, Qatar, where they captured their gold medals at the fourth GCC Games.
On hand to welcome back the newly crowned spikers were BVA president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, BOC sports associations director Hesham Albeloshi, BVA vice-president Mohammed Al Thawadi, BVA secretary general Feras Al Helwachi, and other officials.
The Bahrainis bagged the men’s volleyball gold medals after completing a clean sweep of their three games at the GCC Games – without conceding a single set. It was also their debut tournament under the guidance of newly signed head coach Ivan Joksimovic from Montenegro.
