BASKETBALL – ALUMINIUM Bahrain’s (Alba) women’s basketball team were crowned champions of the 2026 Takafo’a Women’s Basketball League.
Alba secured the title after defeating their counterparts from Al Najma 89-69 in the tournament final, played at the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) Arena in Um Al Hassam.
The league was held in implementation of the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. It aims to empower women’s athletes while promoting women’s sports in the kingdom.
Following the final, the awarding ceremony was held where BBA president Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa presented the two finalists their respective trophies and medals, in the presence of BOC board member and Arab and international relations director Fajer Jassim Mohamed, along with officials from the GSA and the BOC’s equal opportunities and gender balance in sports committee.
Also honoured were league third-placers Vision Basketball Academy and fourth-ranked Sporsista, along with the top individual performers.
