The Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen affirmed the ministry’s continued efforts to develop Bahrain’s transport sector and provide diverse mobility options that meet the needs of various segments of society.
She noted that the ministry has launched the Uber Black service in partnership with Uber under a regulatory framework designed to ensure efficiency, reliability, and high-quality service standards.
Al Dhaen explained that the service will initially be introduced on a limited trial basis through partnerships with licensed companies in Bahrain and via the Uber platform, supporting the provision of new and diverse transport options for users across the Kingdom.
She added that the service will be available in carefully selected locations during the pilot phase, enabling the assessment of service performance and quality before its gradual expansion.
Al Dhaen said users will be able to view the areas covered by the service directly through the Uber application, enhancing transparency and providing a clear and user-friendly experience. She noted that the initiative reflects the joint efforts of the ministry and Uber to harness technology in advancing transport services in the Kingdom.
She added that Uber Black, operating under the supervision and regulation of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, offers a premium transport experience centred on luxury and professionalism through a fleet of high-end vehicles owned by licensed companies specialising in chauffeur-driven luxury car rental services.
Al Dhaen affirmed that all vehicles are subject to periodic technical inspections approved by the relevant authorities, ensuring the highest standards of comfort and safety for passengers.
She noted that the initiative aligns with the ministry’s strategy to further enhance the quality of services provided to the public while supporting the adoption of modern technologies and innovation across Bahrain’s transport sector.
The General Manager of Uber Bahrain, Yousef Abu Saif said: "We are pleased to partner with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications to launch the Uber Black trial service in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
