HORSERACING – DARK Viper won the Dublin to Bahrain Race Series Handicap last night at Leopardstown Racecourse in Dublin, Ireland.
The event was the second leg of this year’s Dublin to Bahrain Race Series, and it was a nine-furlong ride open to three-year-olds and older, with close to 15,000 Euros going to the winner.
Dark Viper triumphed for owner Dan Kiely and trainer Mrs John Harrington, with jockey Shane Foley in the saddle.
The five-year-old gelding led after the first furlong and went clear under two furlongs out. Foley kept him well until the finish, easily taking the victory with two-and-a-quarter lengths from runner-up Manton Bay, racing for MRC International, trainer David Marnane, and jockey Luke McAteer.
Glyndwr came third for Lance Bloodstock, Gerard O’Leary, and Ben Coen.
Completing the eight-runner field from fourth through last, respectively, were Harmani, Eastern Peace, Kilcrea Rock, Apercu, and Wild Sapphire.
In attendance during the awarding ceremony for yesterday’s Dublin to Bahrain Race Series Handicap was Bahrain Turf Club racing and international relations director Ed Veale.
The Dublin to Bahrain Race Series is in its fourth edition this year, and it features multiple events at Leopardstown contested by top-class horses from around the world.
