The funeral of a well-loved member of the kingdom’s golfing community will be held this afternoon at St Christopher’s Cathedral in Manama.
British national Steve Chadwick died on August 2 at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer, leaving behind his partner Jane Lord and his four children.
The lifelong Manchester United fan, who was born a few minutes away from the legendary Old Trafford stadium, lived in Bahrain for three years before his death.
Speaking to the GDN, Ms Lord said that Mr Chadwick was a kind and generous man who would do anything for anybody.
“Steve was funny and very quick-witted,” she said.
“He had a big heart, and was loved by people everywhere he went.
“He was a good father and brother, clever, and very hands-on as a boss who invested in people.
“Steve lived for golf and was very good at it. He was teaching me how to play as well.
“He was a wonderful human being and I love him very much.”
The funeral service today will begin at 12pm at St Christopher’s Cathedral, after which a gathering will be held at the British Club to share memories and celebrate his life. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright coloured attire.
