MOTORSPORT – BAHRAIN Motor Federation (BMF) officials, in cooperation and coordination with Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), held a series of field visits to various sites in Malaysia in preparation for the Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2026, to be held at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from October 2 to 4.
The visits conducted by technical and specialised teams were in implementation of the directives of BMF president and FIA vice-president for Mena Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, aimed at assessing the readiness of facilities and equipment for the F1 weekend and enhancing the level of coordination with relevant parties, in order to ensure the highest levels of operational efficiency.
The visits included officials from BMF’s fire and rescue teams, including Ayoob Al Salman and Ahmed Alali, who went to local civil defence institutions to learn about the available services and mechanisms and ensure their readiness for any required rapid responses during the grand prix.
Visits to a number of specialised companies were also done, with the aim of coordinating the provision of rescue vehicles and the necessary technical equipment, and ensuring their compliance with the requirements and conditions specified for F1 races.
BMF medical team head Dr Amjad Obaid also visited a number of local hospitals to coordinate medical services and support plans, and to review the readiness of medical staff who will be relied upon during the event.
This is to ensure the provision of the highest levels of care and safety for all participants.
These visits are part of an integrated action plan implemented by the BMF, in close cooperation with BIC. They constitute the first phase of a series of a wide range of field visits that will include the rest of the BMF’s teams working in various specialties in the coming period.
The BMF aims to complete all technical, logistical, and organisational arrangements according to a predetermined timetable.
The BMF affirms that these field visits represent a fundamental pillar in the early preparation stages, as they contribute to unifying efforts among the various partner entities, reflecting Bahrain’s accumulated expertise in managing and organising the largest international sporting events.
