The Muharraq Municipal Council has called for relaxing regulations to permit the installation of additional electricity meters in homes occupied by extended families.
Services Committee chairman Abdul Qader Al Sayed revealed to our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej that the council had received many complaints from families unable to obtain extra meters under current rules, resulting in high electricity bills.
He said the proposal aims to balance planning regulations with residents’ needs, helping reduce living costs, support family stability and improve the quality of life through a more flexible regulatory framework.
