JIU-JITSU – BAHRAIN’S senior men’s jiu-jitsu national team stars Bader Al Doseri and Abdulla Ali Alshaikh bagged a sensational five medals, headlined by three gold, in their respective weight classes at the 2026 World Championships Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi and the JJIF World Cup Jiu-Jitsu 2026, both held over the weekend in Zadar, Croatia.
The meetings, organised by Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF), featured the world’s best athletes in the sport, both men and women.
The no-gi events saw action in masters, adults, and under-21 categories; while the gi worlds comprised competition in adults, under-21, under-18, under-16, and under-14 divisions.
Al Doseri and Alshaikh claimed their three world titles in the no-gi jiu-jitsu worlds.
Al Doseri secured a brilliant double gold – first emerging triumphant in the master two jiu-jitsu no-gi men’s under-85kg weight class, where he finished ahead of silver-medallist Tomasz Martyka from Poland.
Al Doseri then added his second gold in the master two jiu-jitsu no-gi men’s under-77kg group.
Alshaikh, meanwhile, struck gold in the adults jiu-jitsu no-gi men’s under-56kg division. He won against Kazakhstan’s Akhmet Ibrashev, who came away with the silver medal; while Ali Batrybek, also from Kazakhstan, and Ruslan Rokotol from Ukraine shared the final podium step as bronze-medallists.
Earlier in Zadar, Al Doseri and Alshaikh captured a silver medal apiece in the gi worlds.
Al Doseri secured his silver in the master two jiu-jitsu men’s under-77kg, while Alshaikh was the runner-up in the adult jiu-jitsu men’s under-56kg class.
Al Doseri claimed his classification behind gold medal winner John Fraser from Canada, whereas Alshaikh finished behind gold-medallist Akhmet Ibrashev from Kazakhstan. Joining them on the podium and sharing the bronze medals were Ruslan Rokotol from Ukraine and Romnick Vertudazo from Canada.
Following the five-medal haul, Bahrain Combat Sports Council board member and Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation president Redha Monfaredi expressed his great pride in the honourable results of Al Doseri and Al Shaikh. He stressed that their achievements reflect the advanced level that jiu-jitsu has reached in the kingdom and the continuous development that Bahraini sports are witnessing under the care and support of the wise leadership, along with that of the sports leadership.
