Joint cultural initiatives across the Gulf were reviewed during a meeting held as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the GCC Supreme Council.
The 59th Meeting of GCC General Cultural Committee was held at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) communication and partnerships director Hani Ali Behzad headed the kingdom’s delegation.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of decisions issued by GCC culture ministers and discussed the latest developments in Gulf cultural co-operation.
Participants also discussed the third edition of the GCC Writers Guide, the annual plan for joint cultural events and activities, and the establishment of a platform dedicated to cultural statistics and international co-operation.
Other topics included GCC Cultural Days, the GCC Award for Cultural Innovators, translation and Arabisation projects, the GCC Action Plan for Cultural and Creative Industries for 2027-2030, as well as plans to hold joint GCC Cultural Days at Unesco headquarters in Paris in 2027.
