VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain's Al Nasser were crowned champions of the International Junior Volleyball Championship, held in Al Ain, the UAE, and organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The Bahrainis won all five of their games in the tournament, where they played Al Arabi and Al Rayyan of Qatar, Burgan and Al Qadsia of Kuwait, and Emirati hosts Al Ain.
Along with their gold medals, Nasser came away with AED20,000 in prize money for first place, while two of their players were honoured for their individual performances, including Ammar Yousef as best middle blocker and Abbas Matrook as best setter.
